I have been asked if I fancy doing some teaching in a CASTLE in September
I am extremely excited at this prospect.

What's the most exciting place you'd like to work?

Will you be teaching how to write ghost stories?
I'd love to work in the wild with gorillas. Oh yeah.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 15:46, Reply)
Why not?
Yeah, I'll have a go at writing ghost stories with them...Most Haunted has done a programme from the castle and it is well known as haunted.

Gorillas. Hmm. I'd be worried about the poo flinging. Or is that just chimps? Or small boys?
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 15:52, Reply)
I think it's chimps and small boys.
But to be honest, I'm quite partial to a bit of that, metaphorically speaking ;o)

Anywhere that pays me.
I has about 6 weeks worth of money left before I'm homeless. It's quite scary and depressing.

Bugger.
Hope you sort out something soon. Send out your CV everywhere. I was almost in that position this time last year - no job on the horizon and no money. Sent my CV out and since then I've worked non stop.

I spend a couple hours
a day applying for jobs. It's a bummer.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 15:55, Reply)
This is something I'll have to face up to soon myself
I actually find that applying for jobs is actually more stressful than doing the job itself. Just visualise yourself with a steady income while giving your CV-emitter a rest.

Good luck!

Send them to the torture chamber if they're bad
Or just throw them off the ramparts!
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 15:57, Reply)
There's so much potential for fun!
I'm going to enjoy teaching there.

I'm also going to FORCE them to read Angela Carter's 'The Bloody Chamber' just to get them in the mood.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 16:00, Reply)
I adore that book.

(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:44, Reply)
I'm unfamiliar with Angela Carter's bloody chamber

Is this a bouncy castle?
The most exciting place I'd like to work is at my previous job before the shit hit the fan.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 16:56, Reply)
Nope
this is a real honest to goodness castle with battlements, tunnels, and ghosts too.

You out of work at the moment too?
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:03, Reply)
Sounds great.
beats an office block any day
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:15, Reply)
One of my old jobs was in an old pub that was converted into an office.
They even preserved the private bar on the first floor.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:20, Reply)
I work in a purpose built office/lab combo

(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:25, Reply)
I was made redundant last month
See here for the lowdown. From what I've heard through the grapevine, the atmosphere at the company has just crashed. Fortunately, I still keep in touch with several of my former workmates.

Do the ghosts do anything useful like raise and lower the drawbridge or are they just rubbish?
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:15, Reply)
good poundhaul.

(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:17, Reply)
I've got enough cash to keep going for a few months before I run out
but the contract to my flat runs out in July. If I've not found a new job by then, I may go off backpacking again.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:21, Reply)
Sounds like a plan.
My job is a bit shaky at the moment I find out at the end of this month
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:23, Reply)
In a lab
preferably in a university doing cutting edge resurch
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:12, Reply)
Which castle is it then?
I think the most exciting place I woukd like to work would be the ISS. The job would be looking out the window all the time to check the Earth was still there.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:20, Reply)
I'm not sure I could cope with the responsibility of that.
My ideal place to work would be outdoors, preferably guiding walks all over the country or footpath/route/park/estate management.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:31, Reply)
Sounds good.
I might see if the environment agency needs field scientists
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 17:33, Reply)
