Of course nature has a gender.

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:21, 2 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
that's ridiculous
you can have an opinion on it, but saying of course when there is no evidence of anything like that is just silly
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:25, Reply)
Don't argue semantics with me young man.
Every body THINKS of nature as female.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:28, Reply)
I don't in the slightest
it is gender free. Like a table.

there's no need to go round anthropomorphising everything
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:29, Reply)
Well you would be different for different sakes.
AND EVERYBODY KNOWS TABLES ARE MALE.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:33, Reply)
They are females in Spanish
They feel female to me.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:34, Reply)
I always think of tables being dull and stupid.

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:36, Reply)
why not resort to tired generalisations based on sex?

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:37, Reply)
Ok I'll give it a go.

Haha!
I was being sarcastic.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:46, Reply)
really?

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:50, Reply)
Yup!

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:52, Reply)
Wow!

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:53, Reply)
I know!

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:54, Reply)
I'm not being different for differences sake
I honestly don't think that nature is a he or she. Nor is a table

The word may have a gender, depending on language, but not the thing.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:37, Reply)
I suppose you've never ever heard of the term Mother Nature.
I guess I do have Pagan tendancies which colour my view.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:39, Reply)
I have heard of it
that doesn't mean it is so

just because a certain group of people refer to something in a way doesn't mean it is true.

Nothing wrong with pagan tendencies.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:41, Reply)
You fucking druid

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:42, Reply)
Innit!
I love a bit of naked dancing round a fire.

Tales of the Unexpected?

I used to love that programme.
Gave me the willies.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:49, Reply)
unexpected tails here too ;-)

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:50, Reply)

Dirty Ticket

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:54, Reply)
No they don't. I don't, Vipros doesn't.
That's two without trying desperately hard, isn't it?
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:42, Reply)
That's hardly a random section of the populace.
Two arguementative bastards.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:50, Reply)
it is actually my opinion
I'm not just being argumentative. You'd be surprised at how infrequently I'll argue something just for the sake of it
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:51, Reply)
Not with me it seems.

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:53, Reply)
that may be how you see it
but I wouldn't argue if I didn't believe what I was saying. What's the point?
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:54, Reply)
Your overwhelming desire to be right?

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:57, Reply)
in this particular instance I'm not arguing that you shouldn't say she about nature
I'm saying that not everyone thinks that.

it's not a question of being right
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:58, Reply)
Okay you win. I'm bored now.
What shall we argue about next?
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:01, Reply)
I don't argue just for the sake of it
www.b3ta.com/questions/offtopic/post725456

interesting debates are fine, but the rapid recourse to discussing the nature of arguments each time kind of gets in the way
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:04, Reply)
You're no fun : (

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:06, Reply)
I am, but I see little point in arguing for the sake of it
or arguing with someone who is arguing for the sake of it.

:-P

now I really need to actually do some work!

see you later
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:07, Reply)
Verbal banter FTW!

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:08, Reply)
better when it is complete nonsense or there is a point to it
anything in between is a waste of time!
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:11, Reply)
Again!
Okay you win.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:16, Reply)
Please support your preposterous notion with evidence.
Thank you.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:27, Reply)
See above.

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:28, Reply)
Nature has periods

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:29, Reply)
ha!

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:49, Reply)
Yes, the boys don't reply to that one, eh?

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:57, Reply)
depending on how you refer to it
so does a school day.

so does a piece of writing.

didn't reply because it is an argumental non-sequitur
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 9:59, Reply)
Yeah, yeah, excuses
You know we've won!
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:01, Reply)
won what?
I'm saying that not everyone thinks nature is female and that there is no evidence that supports that it is.

I haven't read anything that changes that
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:03, Reply)
Oh, well
You want to win? There you have your prize.

(Sorry, it's difficult, I always get confused on the internet about what's real and what's a joke. From my comment about the periods I'm just joking, obviously Nature doesn't menstruate. I'm not sure if you're going with the joke or getting upset with me and thinking I'm silly)
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:07, Reply)
not upset at all :-)
what I meant was that I don't see it as a competition to win or lose. (not this time anyway)
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:08, Reply)
Oh, no, me neither
I find it very funny when people think they're winning about an argument you can't care less about.

I used to get very upset with them, stupid girls at my school grrrr
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:09, Reply)
Well of course it does.
Cretaceous, Jurassic etc - you don't mean to say that the natural world menstruates, do you? That would be idiotic.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:00, Reply)
Nature is male, because it likes to fuck people

(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:00, Reply)
Yeah, we women don't like to fuck people
Are you single?
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:01, Reply)
Engaged.
I think more of women being fucked due to the penetrative nature of copulation.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:03, Reply)
We can fuck you well and trully
But I kind of see your point.

In that case, Nature gives birth to new live, therefore, a woman.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:08, Reply)
I think that was the idea behind 'Mother' nature
because nature is supposed to have all the nurturing and giving aspects that a woman has. Plus one hell of a temper.
(, Tue 18 May 2010, 10:11, Reply)
