What's wrong with this sentence?

...AVR Ltd would hire me a vehicle for the duration of the repairs...

AVR being a car rental company. Hire me a vehicle? That to me sounds like "can you borrow me that pen a minute"

Is it actually correct, or would it be "...would lease me a vehicle for the duration..."

This is in a statement of truth I received from a solicitors regarding an old insurance claim. It is littered with spelling mistakes, ropey grammar and I assume their proofreader is in fact 7 years old.

As I always have a lot of mistakes, but then, if it's your mother tongue and you can't communicate properly on it, you deserve to be laughed at.

I'm a grammar nazi in Spanish and my friends and family never appreciated it.

Not PROPER Spanish, no
They don't even know some very common words. Worst of all is my mother, who keeps trying to talk with slang, but always has it wrong.

For example, when we are scared, we say:

Me cago por la pata pa'bajo (I shit down the leg)

She says:

Me cago por la mata bajo (I shit under the bush)

How is that supposed to mean anything?? How am I supposed to tell my mother that she's not using the slang properly??
