Me and my brother were drunk, and off to meet his mate who was giving us a lift home. On the way there, a lad stood up from the side of the kerb, and asked my brother for the time. As soon as my brother looked away, this lad smacked him, and his mate joined in. I was so confused, couldn't quite understand what was happening until one of them turned and knocked me to the floor, before repeatedly stamping on my head, and kicking me in the face. We half got away once, but I stumbled and went down, leading to us getting a battering again.
Managed to get away in the end, got to the hospital to clean myself up. Then I had to cradle my brother, as he was crying, feeling like he'd let me down. Destroyed my confidence that, I wouldn't go out at night for months after.
Sorry, am still rather angry about it 7 years later.
EDIT: Although since then I've had a few kickings, it's all been for mutual pleasure, got to love mosh pits (although I hate the word). And there's been a couple of decent injuries

Some guy once shouted to my mate from down and ally, saying he had something to show him! My mate said no thanks.

asking for the time, or 10p or whatever, I take the same action i do with chuggers; I completely ignore them and walk quickly past.

innoculous would be of the vaccination type, i.e. this conversation prevents disease.
