What I am good at, though, is HAVING TICKETS TO SEE KRS1 IN OCTOBER, as of this morning.
You have no idea how apeshit a crowd can go until you've seen 'Sound of da Police' live. One of the high points of my gigging life.

I thought you'd been kidnapped and replaced.

rather different to the tickets you've booked but I'm very much looking forward to it.

I met him once. He gave a talk about the nature of tragedy and comdey at Winchester college. He knocked over his water and smashed the glass.

Not having a holiday this year because of work so am treating myself to a few good nights out that I wouldn't normally spend money on instead

after seeing them I will have seen very nearly all my favourite bands (that are still together/alive)

apart from the Jim Jones Revue - unless you count Led Zeppelin which is still technically possible albeit highly unlikely.
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 11:37, Reply)
which was good enough for me. Particularly because it was £15 and I was really close to the great man.
I'd love to see Jim Jones Revue.

but did no London gig, the weirdos. I nearly went to Bedford to see them because I thought 'my brother lives in Bedfordshire so I can get a taxi to his afterwards'. For about £40, it transpired so it didn't happen.

I'm pleased about Monster Magnet. They did one date last year, in London, or Manchester, mid-week. Pissed me right off.
My mrs was trying to keep the Cardiff one quiet from me, so she could surprise me, but my mate text me about it. She wasn't pleased, meant she has to find something else to surprise me with for my birthday (which incidentally is on Monday)

but I never really get round to it. I'd also quite like to see Placebo again

I don't know how or why, maybe by some sort of magic, but Wordpress on your own domain, is fucking amazing at SEO stuff, there is nothing I can do that does it better than that.
I fucking hate doing SEO stuff.

It's supposed to be a polite way of describing companies that are in the shit.

.. or more like, I always say "I code the site properly, so it will hit google, but you wont' hit the 'big boys [of your industry], so go for obscure local things. Like if you're based in Harrow and are an estate agent, aim for things like 'Harrow estate agent' or 'harrow property lader', rather than 'london properties'.... so I'll do my best, but I'm no expert on this."
Looking at the code, use jQuery to run all the javascript, and although Google doesn't really count Metas that much any more, other search engines do, so get the metas right.
Link Exchanges with affiliate buisnesses are fantastic ways of get objetive traffic through your door.

When it comes to setting up social network based links, make sure it's relivent social networks, like forums based on your industry, and check the social network you're doing that on is indexed by google.... no point in hooking up on, for example, a year ago, Facebook, because the profile wasn't indexed.

Like, for example, if you find a blog based on a new product that needs marketing (which, without reading your site, I think is your main objective), you could leave a message like....
"Fantastic product, I like the way X does Y. Have you thought about branding on the site? Over at www.brandrep.co.uk, my friend managed to get the packaging done blahdy blah blah, email me at me at brandrep.co.uk and we'll see what we can do".
Email is fantastic, but not templated emails, I look for buisness cards with @hotmail or @gmail [etc] addresses, which mostly don't have any kind of website, and contact them personally. I tend to go through local newspapers, as that proves they're up for advertising, I say something like "Imagine an advert in the paper, but with no size limit on content, full colour, animated.... it's a great extention to your advert".

We do email marketing (have an ACT! db with about 2000 companies on it) and I am using Linkedin to contact people directly as well.

I haven't spammed though - not putting it other peoples blog comments, not using link farms etc. Am considering registering with a few directories and will link to other pages on the site not just the homepage.
I want to get good results on search returns on related searches eg brand agency.
