Speaking of food, I was watching "Iron Chef UK" last night on 4od.
Oh LOL, it is fantastic how they've tried to recreate Iron Chef America, but it's got that over-enthusastic wine guy. It's 30 minutes of pure cheesy one-liners about food. It really really doesn't work with british accents at all.

It got cancelled after about 4 programmes.

Nah', there are a few.

I prefer the american format, where it's 1v1 with 7 dishes each.

Why is it "Iron" chef?
Do they make them run a marathon and then cook?
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:19, Reply)
It's because that ultra-camp fellow is a fucking 'iron'

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:26, Reply)
I like it

I think it's because americans can be all like
"RAH ! I AM IRON ! I AM STEAL ! RAHHHH ! GUITAR SOLOS AND FIREWORKS ! IN THE WORDS OF MY UNCLE.... SOMETHING CHINESE !!!! LOOK AT THIS, A COOKING SHOW WITH 4 COMENTATORS, AND ONE OF THEM CAN DO BACK FLIPS !!!"

that over-enthusiastic guy is crazy
my mrs hates him so I can't watch that.

The original chinese or japanese Iron Chef was amazing. I saw an episode with a chef famed for using the longest knives. This guy was using a 2 ft blade and doing stuff incredibly delicately and quickly with the tip of it.

I've been better.
I was in fucking hospital yesterday following an allergic reaction to some dodgy drugs. Not one of my life's high points.

What if we don't think he's alright?
Can we have happy faces and hope that he doesn't stop killing him self?

Also, what drugs were you taking?
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:41, Reply)
MASSIVE ones, of course.

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:45, Reply)
Can't you find a hobby that doesn't involve killing yourself on a weekly basis?
I donno what exactly, have you tried crochet?
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:50, Reply)
I'm good at croquet.

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:51, Reply)
Maybe next time you go to snort rat poison, you could try croquet instead?
Unless it's raining, then maybe flower arranging?
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:53, Reply)

Croquet comes with a massive mallet
I'm not sure I want him walking round with one of those.

I once thrashed about ten people*
at a stately home in Devon, then threw up all over the croquet lawn and went to sleep, bounder that I am.

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 9:53, Reply)
So when you posted that you were off to hospital
You were actually serious? I thought it was just some sort of niche mini-flounce.
