I'm going to stake out a cupcakery tomorrow
and then there's a giant disorganised picnic in Manchester so I'll probably wander over there at some point. It used to be D-something (percussion maybe?) but the organisers stopped doing it so people are just going to do it by themselves.

What you are you doing BeckyBix?

by stake out
do you mean you are going to sit in a car outside eating junk food and drinking coffee while occasionally looking through binoculars?

I'd much prefer to go
On a steak out.

mmmm, steak
I'm too poor for steak at the moment.

I will have to let the memory of the beef wellington I ate on my birthday keep me going until my mrs gets a payrise
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:17, Reply)
Any further word on that payrise?

the wheels are in motion
they are having a bit of a local management reshuffle with a couple of people leaving, so her boss is moving up a level, the more experienced chartered engineer is moving up to be Mrs V's superior, and Mrs V will be the main project engineer. By the sounds of it they are going to see how much others at the same level are being paid in the company and should be bringing her pay up to that.

Excellent news!

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:31, Reply)
hopefully
with a bit of luck we might end up £400 a month better off.
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:33, Reply)
Think of all the croissants...

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:36, Reply)
Wow, that's quite a boost!

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:38, Reply)
yeah, she deserves it though.
She works bloody hard and was underpaid even before she was chartered.

She's currently on £6k less than I am and should really be on more than me (particularly given how much harder that me she works). we're hoping that they'll give her that extra £6k

Just a minute. Kitty O'Hara said she might soon be £400 better off,
and the very same day Vipros expresses the same.

My super powers of deduction* tell me something may be going on here.

*(Well that, and the fact that you both keep mentioning the possibility of something going on.)
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:55, Reply)
There isn't anything going on.....
....YET
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:57, Reply)
Almost. We're going to actually go in there though
and buy coffee and cupcakes and surreptitiously make a note of how many people come in and what they order, so we can put some figures in our business plan.
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:36, Reply)
I'm working tomorrow morning, then going for a mooch round camden and possibly bodeans or hummingbird bakery
Sunday I'll be finishing writing up cases that I don't get finished today.
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:10, Reply)
mmmm hummingbird
that's what inspired me in the first place. Wiggy went there recently and brought me back a box of cupcakes.
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:35, Reply)
They are verreh tasty I must say. Also I can find their shop easily which is no mean feat considering my navigation skills in that part of london

(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:38, Reply)
I have the book. My sister made the marshmallow ones without me there :(
You seem like the sort of person who'd know where to find tinned pumpkin. Do you?
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:59, Reply)
D-Percussion was fun
it was a giant connection of free gigs. And the first time, shame of shames, that I actually went to Castlefield. With all those ruins I should have been more enthusiastic.
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:41, Reply)
I was on the train the other day going past Castlefield
and there's an artificial beach right next to the canal. I can't decide if it's awesome or gross.
(, Fri 20 Aug 2010, 11:52, Reply)
Oooh, will explore.
whenever the fuck I'm back in Manc for an extended period.
