Minor threadjack:
Manchester people - do you know any cybergoths/extremely alternative people who would go on Snog, Marry, Avoid? My friend is a researcher for it and someone has pulled out at the last minute. They need to be available this afternoon, so like now.

Can we send AA on it?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:38, Reply)
Why, are you not available?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:41, Reply)
No I am off getting supplies for next weekend
It's surprisingly hard to find a good axe nowadays
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:42, Reply)
This is very true
I was looking for such a tool to cut wood for my fire, but have as yet been unable to find one to meet my specifications.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:46, Reply)
You want a bow saw to cut the wood
and axe is for splitting logs.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:56, Reply)
Yes, this is indeed so
I have a bushman saw for the initial cutting. The final subdivisions are more sensibly done using an axe. But like the baking/cooking thing above, I will maintain here that splitting (or chopping) is a subset of cutting, so my original post is still correct.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 13:03, Reply)
And I will maintain that your mum likes to tickle your balls before you go to sleep each night
so I win.

FACT!
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 13:08, Reply)
I have both.
And I've got wood.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 13:42, Reply)
Is that
the show with that grotty bird off Atomic Kitten on it? I hate that show. Please pass on my dislike.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:38, Reply)
yeah I think so
I've never seen it but I assume it's dreadful. I'm just trying to help my friend out. I nearly got roped into How To Look Good Naked a while back.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:40, Reply)
It's actually not that bad
bizarrely enough. They're so cheerful about it all
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:41, Reply)
Did you?
I hate that one a bit less than the other. What were you nearly roped into doing on it?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:41, Reply)
Not being naked luckily
but they did a bit where they took all the woman's clothes and dressed up 'people from the street' (i.e. us) in them and then made them parade down the street past her so she could see how awful she must look. Pretty harsh really. I was taking Wiggy out for steak though so I couldn't do it.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:43, Reply)
I'm glad you have
your priorities right, Kitty. I'm not sure my own missus would have been so sensible.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:47, Reply)
cost me 100 fucking quid as well
but the look on his little face when they brought the cuts of meat round...*sigh*
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:49, Reply)
Did you go to Gaucho?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:54, Reply)
hell yeah
it was sexy.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:56, Reply)
So nothing like you when naked then?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 13:01, Reply)
Because at the moment she looks fucking awful naked
and someone thought she should try and look better
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:43, Reply)
I know you didn't pick me on Lampito's quiz but there's no need to rub it in!
*sobs*
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:50, Reply)
Have you seen Kitty naked then?
Eh? Bet you haven't.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:51, Reply)
I watched that How to Look Good Naked once
but nobody in it got naked so I don't know if they looked good or not.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:43, Reply)
I bet it was a trap
with Chompy posing as Gok Wan.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:44, Reply)
he does have the same glasses.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:50, Reply)
Sorry don't know anyone in Manchester
who is very alternative.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:39, Reply)
I know a girl who would be brilliant on it but she's in sodding Shrewsbury for this weekend.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:43, Reply)
The aforementioned 6ft tall lass?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:45, Reply)
aye!!
that's the one. She's just had her cheeks pierced as well now so they'd have a field day with her
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:46, Reply)
Doesn't that hurt a bit
when she sits down?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:47, Reply)
she said they're all swollen, so probably

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:48, Reply)
I used to know a tall lass in Manchester who had her cheeks pierced
Strikingly beautiful she was.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:47, Reply)
I hate cheek piercings, I think they're revolting.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:48, Reply)
9 times out of 10 I agree
But on her they looked good.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:49, Reply)
Looks good if you have dimples.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:51, Reply)
Yep
And she did. She was hot.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:52, Reply)
You mean they didn't have an alternative alternative?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:40, Reply)
If they can't find
somebody strange-looking in Manchester, they haven't looked very hard. Throwing a brick would do it.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:43, Reply)
Throwing a brick might make someone strange-looking
I'll volunteer to chuck bricks around Mancland.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:46, Reply)
Not sure the folk I knew are still in Manchester
Tell her to walk around that big alt shopping centre place.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:44, Reply)
Afflecks?
I've suggested that to him, however, I don't know that many alternative types who would appreciate being normalised.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:47, Reply)
Afflecks! I kept thinking 'Quiggins', but that's Liverpool
Most alt peeps I know are pretty easy going, but it's not hard to imagine that they won't be shown in a fair light on shows like that (never seen it though).
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:49, Reply)
Believe it or not
the alternative ones get the best rap. They generally get told 'at least you're individual and happy the way you are, so bugger off'
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:51, Reply)
I thought the show would be
A bunch of people pointing at the alt types and saying "Eurgh, Avoid, definitely! Look at them!".
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:53, Reply)
Nah
about 90% choose not to be madeunder, so they aren't put through the public thing. The 10% who do get generally get a better reaction than the chavvy lot
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:55, Reply)
What's this 'madeunder' malarky?
I'm guessing no makeup, neutral clothes, neutral hair style?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:56, Reply)
yeah
I read one article where it said they looked like rejects from C & A, but it is generally a better look because they're at least clothed
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:57, Reply)
Was it Billy Connolly
who talked about women's pants having C&A on the label so they knew which way round to wear them?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 13:07, Reply)
Bert has an alternative lifestyle.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 12:51, Reply)
incest is indeed
an alternative to a healthy normal relationship
