I live in a democracy; this gives me the right to protest against certain views that the Catholic church express on some subjects if I chose to. So I did.

on the subject since the visit though

it is rather flogging a dead horse though, permanent outrage is more than a bit boring

After all, they too live in a democracy; that (allegedly) gave them the right to protest against certain views that the government express on some subjects if they chose to.

They do both generally have the right to do what they're doing, if they do it within the law that is, so that fightyness some of them seem to like is a bit wrong.
I think the difference is in what the views are of the people that are judging them. Most people will agree racism is wrong, and be anti-EDL, therefore will say that is wrong. Meanwhile, they will agree with other marches and think they are ok, as they match with their personal views.
*Always a dangerous thing to say.

All marches do in practical terms is give more publicity to the cause they're rallying against. If you're really that concerned, why not do something about it yourself instead of gathering round for a big public whine?

Steal the pope and make him say sorry.

Note to intelligence agencies: this is a hypothesis. I do not endorse such actions myself.

this would be a lot less of a moronic thing to say.

He might not be always right (I'm all for equality but he's a bit millitant for me - it's not cool publicly outing people, as he was wont to do in the 90s) but you've got to admire someone who's been physically attacked 200+ times and still carrys on campaigning and putting himself in danger, especially as he's a raving limp-wristed bender.

he sometimes acts like an utter tosser but if you let that get in the way of how you perceive him then you are a short-sighted fool.

that would be pretty funny, for a few hours anyway.
(, Sat 18 Sep 2010, 21:00, Reply)
but there would be a few moments of LOL before the unLOL hit.

isn't it lovely that we live in a democracy and we are able to abuse people because we don't like the manner in which they go about championing the rights of others? (whether they are championing their own cause or not)
and the nerve of some people having divergent lifestyles and views, why that just gets my goat. i'm fair happy i get to vent my ever so angry spleen. i think that's what stops it from exploding.
all that outrage could make a person ill.
