So what is it that makes this right, and English Defence League marches wrong?
After all, they too live in a democracy; that (allegedly) gave them the right to protest against certain views that the government express on some subjects if they chose to.

Because the English defence league are a bunch of cunts?

As I see it, they're both mobs of self-important loudmouthed peasants who like to wave their pitchforks and bellow their opinions into the wind.

I dunno.
That woman in the red top looks ready to rumble.

They can certainly bleat about their "right to free speech" in quite an aggressive fashion.

Well I know which group I'd rather be accidentally stuck in the middle of.

The way I see it*
They do both generally have the right to do what they're doing, if they do it within the law that is, so that fightyness some of them seem to like is a bit wrong.

I think the difference is in what the views are of the people that are judging them. Most people will agree racism is wrong, and be anti-EDL, therefore will say that is wrong. Meanwhile, they will agree with other marches and think they are ok, as they match with their personal views.

*Always a dangerous thing to say.

I agree.
All marches do in practical terms is give more publicity to the cause they're rallying against. If you're really that concerned, why not do something about it yourself instead of gathering round for a big public whine?

And what exactly are they able to do?
Steal the pope and make him say sorry.

Oh I don't know, plant a bomb in the Vatican?
Note to intelligence agencies: this is a hypothesis. I do not endorse such actions myself.
