i am actually nearly hitting the ceiling with disappointed rage now
that they don't have THESE in my size, or they would have been mine within the next 5 mins:

www.theoutnet.com/product/207895

a 41 is a UK size 8, right? so a 41.5 would be 2.5 sizes too big for me, no way is that do-able. damnit!

That makes you nearly the same size as me
haha when I clicked on that page it told me you'd liked it on facebook. But yeah those boots are gorgeous

I sense a Amberl and Swipe 'shoe swap club' in the offing.

(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:11, Reply)
doesn't work like that Jeff
Swipe's are too expensive
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:12, Reply)
they weren't when i was a student though
wait til you're a famous lawyer/doctor, then i'll be begging for pics of the inside of your wardrobe.
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:16, Reply)
Never mind.
Give to a few years and you'll be earning plenty and able to buy all the shoes you want, whilst Swipe tries to juggle a career, mortgage and loads of kids.

You'll be in the driving seat then.

i don't have a mortgage!
i am way too spoiled for that.

but kids? er, who the hell would i con into impregnating me?!

You've got me in 'stiches'

(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:34, Reply)
they really are.
it is so much easier if you are a size 5 or below or an 8 and above. 6 or 7, there is nothing!
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:12, Reply)
Well, that's about £450 more than I'd every spent on shoes

(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:11, Reply)
you're a dude, dude
although girls DO notice men's shoes. fact.
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:13, Reply)
And what are the expectation of mens shoes?

(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:17, Reply)
one expensive pair
is better than ten cheap pairs

no bowling shoe type

clean but not too shiny - patent is a no-no
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:21, Reply)
I had a pair of tailored hand-made shoes
They were fantastic.

The leather soles lasted ages, which came as as surprise.
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:24, Reply)
oh
now that sounds very very acceptable!
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:28, Reply)
I don't have them anymore
There are only so many times you can have a pair of shoes repaired before you've got to admit they're past their best.

I got them at the same time I bought my first tailored suit.
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:30, Reply)
tailored suit?
this also sounds very very very acceptable.
(, Sun 17 Oct 2010, 14:33, Reply)
There is very little difference in price from buying an 'off-the-peg' suit that is branded (but made in a sweatshop)
And having a suit made by a tailor.

Granted, we're not talking Saville Row, but made-to-measure suits can be affordable.

I've lost over 3 stone since my last tailored suit, and until my weight settles down, I'm limited to HOF off the peg suits, I'm not spending a fortune on things that might not fit in a couple of weeks.
