What netbook did you go for?
The trick with them is to barebones it and _just_ use the web browser.... but that requires some techy knowledge that most people buying it wouldn't know how to do.

I googled info on making it run faster.
Got some ideas but I'm just stuck at the moment with this chrome business.

Give me the make and model and I'll see what it comes with so you know it's safe to remove.
There is something called MSConfig which lets you stop things running at start-up, so you only open them when you need them.... this is a great way of speeding up a machine.
