I thought you were taking exams, not marking them!

(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:02, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
yeah but I do practice exams.
I've done 23 maths practice ones, and I"m marking my 16th psychology paper. The reason I do so many is because they're all essentially the same questions worded slightly differently, and it helps me prepare for how they'll ask them this time.

Good for you!
When are you coming to the UK and how long are you staying for?

(I'm just interested in what you're looking forward to, and what you've worried about!)
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:07, Reply)
I leave in two weeks actually for the UK, which is a bit frightening to think about.
been planning it for so long that now it's so close is making me get a bit squealy with excitement and fear.
I'm staying for 4 weeks initially, then going to Europe for 5 weeks, then back to London for a week.

I'm really looking forward to putting faces to names finally though.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:13, Reply)
My sister went travelling for a month in Australia
And stayed for 5 years (before she got deported).

You'll love it. If you don't mind me asking, how old will you be when you land?
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:15, Reply)
I'll be a couple of months shy of 19.
I actually get home the week before I turn 19.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:20, Reply)
So what are you most looking forward to?
(Have your family done Europe before?)
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:27, Reply)
Nope, family's never been to europe save for my dad, he was born in Amsterdam.
I dunno, I'm looking forward to it all really. It's my first solo holiday, so it's a bit of a thrill to just be independent and to do it all myself. I'm really really looking forward to seeing Snow though. Never seen it that I can recall.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:29, Reply)
Snow!
Wow. I can't imagine not seeing it every few years!

I've got some american friends who'd never seen the sea, they were so excited it was untrue.

You do appreciate just how expensive it'll be yes?
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:31, Reply)
dude, I've been saving for two years for this trip.
the fact that I'm couchsurfing for 6 weeks in total out of 10 has cut my costs down unbelievably. I cannot thank the people who are letting me sleep on their couches enough. I wouldn't have been able to go if I couldn't do that!
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:33, Reply)
As long as you know it won't be cheap!
Where, in Europe, are you going?
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:34, Reply)
Use your eyes :P

Well done on having made the decision (at 17) to want to do this, 20 hours on a plane will be fuck all compared to the fun you'll have!

What are you most looking forward to?
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:41, Reply)
I've got no clue, there's a few things.
really looking forward to seeing my dutch familie again, we've been talking a lot recently. Looking forward to spending NYE in Denmark with my friend. Can't wait to go to the Louvre, and to the Eiffel Tower, even though I'll be trying not to throw up on the way up the tower. :P

(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:47, Reply)
still up
most of the way through bottle 2, though.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:51, Reply)
I have one
I figured that in Aus we expect people to at least try to speak english, and if they can't, to use a phrasebook, so I got a little pocket one. It's very handy.

EDIT: I also speak/read dutch pretty okay, so I can get by on that if I have to.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:48, Reply)
bear in mind the comic museum is focussed on the continent
lots of french and german.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:52, Reply)
That's okay, I don't mind shelling out a few bucks for some english headphones.

(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:53, Reply)
Arse, I knew there was something going on that weekend
Was planning to go there and see what this bashing stuff is like, but forgot about it and will be up in Durham that weekend now...

Europe's a big place, whereabouts?
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:16, Reply)
That's fine. just make sure you get to the Mance bash!
Belgium, Holland (for christmas, i have family there), Denmark (NYE, my friend lives there), Sweden, Germany, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and France. Doing a loop.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:22, Reply)
Definitely can't do that one
Have to move out of uni on that day (yes, our holidays are huge). Have tutorials on the friday, so can't leave earlier, and we have to be gone by saturday night cos the college are bastards really nice people who definitely don't monitor internet connections or mess with things
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:24, Reply)

that's okay. I'll survive! Somehow..
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:30, Reply)
I think its on the b3ta calendar
for my finals I did I think a grand total of 13 practice exams. 3 were for Graph Theory, and it turned out 6/7 questions were off the practice papers. Did I get 83% in Graph Theory?

No, I got 100%. We had to answer 6 questions out of 7.
(, Sun 31 Oct 2010, 1:14, Reply)
ahaha good for you.
they do the same thing here, like, on every paper for the last five years has been, in some form or another "describe and differentiate between Negative Reinforcement and Punishment."
