at least round these parts, is that almost every amateur band is ska or folk.
ska done very well is good. anything less than a big band doing it very well is fucking terrible.

Oddly, one of the best/worst ska experiences I had was seeing The Ordinary Boys at some middle-of-the-road music festival.
I have to say, their brass section was one of the best I've seen. It's just a shame about the songs and the singer.
