flight was fine, customs was worse than anything.
the lady grilled me and almost didn't let me through because I'm couchsurfing.

should have said you were here for a free house
they'd have waved you right through.

wish I did.
But hey! I'm not going to grumble about it, I'm through and I'm awake and it's GREAT. It is SO pretty here!

Whereabouts in our fine land are you?
And how many bar-job have you been offered so far? My guess is 732.

I never thought to tell you to ring me if there were any problems with customs.
I would have vouched for you.

yeah I know - everybody on the list of people I'm staying with would have,
I think she was just concerned about nitpicking on me.

She's obviously not aware that YOU'RE FROM THE INTERNET.

I got that trying to get into oz
The exasperated customs bloke scrawled "Staying with brother" on my entry form.

I also got the 3rd degree (and swabbed for MASSIVE DRUGZ/EXPLOSIVES) entering AND leaving NZ.

Pre 11/9, my Grandad flew to NZ
Going from Aus to NZ, he was stopped by customs who found he had an apple and a fruit knife in his carry on luggage. They confiscated the apple.
(, Tue 16 Nov 2010, 12:43, Reply)
that's because of the fact that the apple is what poses the greater danger to us.

(, Tue 16 Nov 2010, 12:44, Reply)
My Grandad could've killed everyone in NZ with just that fruit knife
Now he's a bit older, he'd probably only manage one of the islands.
(, Tue 16 Nov 2010, 12:46, Reply)
Most Aussies would still hail him a hero.

(, Tue 16 Nov 2010, 12:51, Reply)
Ha!
they are still very strict on carrying fruit/veg/food. I saw people with wooden bracelets stopped.
