I just wondered...
We're going to pay this wedding with our taxes, and they're going to get a lot of presents payed by other countries' taxes, so... will we at least get a day off for all this?

Aber, you should be president with this kind of thinking!
I'd vote for you

Thank you
Pity there's no such thing as president in this country...

In Spain we got very upset with the Royal wedding, and demanded the use of the presents they got, like cars, boats and all that. They didn't listen, and I'm still upset for it.

we should make them have an argos
wedding list and demand everyone sticks to it if they must buy them something

They can exchange pieces of LIzzie Duke at the ceremony.

We should do the same that my company does for Christmas presents
We can't keep anything, we have to give it all to the office manager and then there's a raffle before Christmas, all the money goes to charity.

I don't understand.
Wedding gifts are for those getting married not those who pay for the wedding.

Normally
Those who pay for the wedding want to pay for the wedding, and quite a few times get to enjoy going to the wedding themselves.

We pay, we don't go to the wedding, we don't get anything from it.

They get the money from us because they're doing a public service. Therefore, this wedding is not pay for them, it's paid for the institution. Whatever benefit comes from it, should be invested or came back to the ones they are serving.

I fucking hope so.

I don't think we will
Not with things as they are. What I hope is that they behave and don't spend trilions while we are in the middle of this crisis.

They should have to make do with a registry office and reception at their local

(, Wed 17 Nov 2010, 10:53, Reply)
I like that idea
But you'll have a lot of people (quite possibly tories) saying that in that manner we'd only show how low Britain has fallen.

God yes
This is why I wholeheartedly agree with Crunchy's suggestion of an Argos wedding list - why should we lavish so much money on the buggers while we're waiting patiently to have our benefits and public services hacked back?
(, Wed 17 Nov 2010, 10:55, Reply)
Well, honestly, I don't think they'll accept that...
But it'd be very nice if the gave a good chunck of their presents to be raffled and give the money back to the taxpayer.
