That was unnecessarily Hollywood of them, I thought
bombed out street, bodies everywhere and luckily their entire family survived by hiding in their house with all the lights on in the middle of the city after days of attempted extermination.

And I thought the tripods having shields was a lame cop-out.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Just makes it a Hollywood action film, though. Not anywhere near the same league as Lost Boys.

Hollywood films nearly always have happy endings
That's why I was so happy at the end of Saw, nearly everyone died! I've enjoyed several films where the main character has died, but it's not a happy ending e.g. Sin City, Watership Down, etc

I know it's really fucking irritating
there's nothing quite like treating your audience like children, is there?
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:21, Reply)
Precisely. that's why I tend to watch Japanese horrors these days
Far better headfucks. Although I do want to watch 'The Orphanage'
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:22, Reply)
I absolutely cannot stand horror films. I will not watch them.
That has nothing to do with perceived quality issues, I'm just a gigantic pussy.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:25, Reply)
Haha, terrible!
Seriously unsettling films are some of my favourite to watch!(The Omen, The Shining, etc)
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:28, Reply)
Don't worry
I am too. I can just about stand Alien, but I flat out refuse to watch the Ring or any shit like that.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:28, Reply)
You're not missing much.

My friends
had to get me drunk before I'd agree to go watch Diary of the Dead. This is despite repeated assurances that it wasn't actually that scary and more of a comedy. 28 Weeks Later gave me fucking nightmares because I didn't finish the film and see them all die.

This is my biggest leak of man-points. I have to repeatedly top up the tank with sexist comments and loud conversations about cars.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:33, Reply)
You should watch The Hills Have Eyes
That's pretty fucking brutal.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:39, Reply)
Not a fucking chance.

(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:40, Reply)
If it makes you feel any better
I am exactly the same - I won't watch scary films unless I have a pillow or preferably someone else to cower behind. I am a girl though...
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:44, Reply)
Exactly, the girl factor lets you off, a little
Have you seen 'Drag Me To Hell'?
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:46, Reply)
With the exception
of 28 days/weeks later, one of the Alien films or a bit of Kubrick, if it's horror you can more or less guarantee I won't have seen it.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:50, Reply)
given that everyone in the
'i hate/fear horror films' is male apart from you, I think that means you're an honourary man, rather than them being girly
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:52, Reply)
It's well worth a watch
Just grab a pillow, and get it!
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:53, Reply)
Nah
I'd rather watch comedy. I'll watch horror only in the presence of a cute man to hide behind!
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:58, Reply)
If you're in the south, there's plenty of cute male b3tans!

(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 14:02, Reply)
The Midlands
It's just me and Lab so she's shit out of luck.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 14:11, Reply)
I doesn't, really.
As you say, you're a girl.

=(
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:47, Reply)
Have you ever seen The Omen?

(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:49, Reply)
No, I saw the Exorcist once, though
That was not a fun evening.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:53, Reply)
I ruined The Exorcist for myself
I watched it too young, so I missed all of the underlying horror, and just laughed at the girl with the weird voice.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:54, Reply)
You're missing out there
Some of the deaths in it are fantastic
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:44, Reply)
Hehehe!
I love horror films but not the ones where the devil is involved like the Exorcist.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:45, Reply)
