Saturday Night Party thread
The first CD Single I ever bought was this:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7iQbBbMAFE

I was reminded of it today and re-listened. Still think it's a cracking tune. The second was

www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_l5ETBRqFU

Which is still excellent.

What about you?

I had mostly bought albums up till then
bought those singles though - just something about them I think.

I vaguely remember the furore over Boy George - IS HE A GIRL???! type stuff from the redtops.

I was very young, hence

and this:

Neither of them were close to the magnificence of Stan Ridgeway's Camouflage, though.

there is nothing wrong with these choices
I'm guess this makes you about the same age as me
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:48, Reply)
34, innit

(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:53, Reply)
exactly.

(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:53, Reply)
Best age ever.
In February, however, the best age ever changes to 35.
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:54, Reply)
i have to wait until June
you're old!
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:55, Reply)

Never bought singles.
First album was By The Way by the Chili Peppers, still absolutely ace.
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:48, Reply)

(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 21:54, Reply)
Dunno, was out in about 2001 weren't it?
Which would have made me ten at the time.
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:16, Reply)
:(
you make me feel old. At least I'm not as old as chcb, though!
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:19, Reply)
I'm twenty in three months. I don't want that to happen. Better than thirty though I suppose!

(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:33, Reply)
thirty (odd) is where it's at

(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:37, Reply)
In a way I agree.
Thirty is the age I've earmarked to stop being an idiot, and start to think about a family etc (why the fuck am I talking about this when it's over ten years away). According to my mum I'm the most paternal bloke in the world so I suppose it makes sense.
Still got ten years of being a twat and getting off my tits every weekend before turning into captain sensible though, which is grand.
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:47, Reply)
being a twat in your thirties is where it's really at :)
settling down is for losers
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:53, Reply)
It shouldn't have been this easy.
But you have convinced me. A twat I shall remain until eighty or so.
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:59, Reply)
Never bought a single
nor do I remember the title of my first album

Today though I have been listening to a load of oldish electro (B12, Digitonal etc) and some Tori Amos
(, Sat 4 Dec 2010, 22:36, Reply)
It must be really difficult having missed out on the 80s
don't feel bad, I'm sure there'll be good music again some day.
