as mine now takes about 2-3 minutes to warm up and for the picture to stabilise.
I want some sort of flat screen device but frankly the tech has moved on so much that I have no idea what I need to look for.

This whole 1080 thing confuses and upsets me. I am not going to get a Blu-Ray player in the near future and I will never get sky so the need for HD isn't that critical, but I guess I might as well try and future proof it a bit.

Then it'll probably have FreeviewHD built in, which looks pretty damn impressive. Sony Bravias are pretty good, and Sony are doing VAT back until Christmas.

The only place it would be shit on, is if you use your telly as a monitor on a laptop to browse text based things like the internet.... and it won't give you the super-dooper HD resolution, but still as high as Sky or Freeview currently go.

I actually need to measure up how much room I have on the shelf for a telly to fit. That will be the major deciding factor on how big a telly I get.
