This is a question Prejudice

"Are you prejudiced?" asks StapMyVitals. Have you been a victim of prejudice? Are you a columnist for a popular daily newspaper? Don't bang on about how you never judge people on first impressions - no-one will believe you.

Be Gentle - First Timer!
I like to think I'm a fairly laid back, chilled out Dane.

That having been said when members of the Islamist community in my home country went crazy about a cartoonist drawing a picture of their prophet - what on earth was that about?

I don't remember
anything like that when "Life of Brian" was released.

I bloody do
I give you two words - Malcolm Muggeridge.

He hated 'Brian' and the Pythons so much, he even denounced Terry Gilliam at a dinner party for using a fork with his right hand, as Merkins apparently do.

Wasn't just him either. Didn't I hear recently that some backwater local authority has only just 'unbanned' cinema showings of it?

I don't remember
a load of christians setting fire to places and having riots and such.

Re. the unbanning. It was in Aberystwyth (I think), the mayoress of which was Brian's girlfriend in the film, and she was the one who lifted the ban. Probably so a load of Welsh people could see her muff and knockers on the big screen.

True about the glaring absence of fire/riots
wondering about the muff/knockers though.

there was also
a massive TV debate with I think a local priest or bishop who also poo pooed the idea of the film.

Careful now
Down with this sort of thing!

Life of Brian was banned in our town.
We had to travel to see it. Meh.

I bought the soundtrack LP
and recited much of the dialogue while my kids watched it a few years ago. They weren't impressed.

To this day, the word 'blessing' prompts me to reply fervently 'A blessing! A blessing from the Lord! God be praised!'
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 12:03, closed)
I think a whole generation recited the dialogue!

(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 12:06, closed)
For me,
Brian: "You're all individuals"
Multitude: "Yes, we're all individuals"
Quiet voice at the back: "I'm not"

really cracked me up.
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 12:09, closed)
Mine was "I'm Brian and so is my wife."
When I finally watched Spartacus it was even funnier.

So...
"Timmy...Do you like films about gladiators?"
