This is a question Prejudice

"Are you prejudiced?" asks StapMyVitals. Have you been a victim of prejudice? Are you a columnist for a popular daily newspaper? Don't bang on about how you never judge people on first impressions - no-one will believe you.

Microsoft...
I hate people who work for microsoft, mainly 'cos i disagree with every windows related decision they have ever made, for instance, in internet explorer the address bar is permanently stuck above the menu bar, which messes with my head, also in windows 7 they switched the position of the "yes" and "no" buttons, which drives me to murder...omg I'm ranting now...
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 13:59, 31 replies)
I read this as
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! THINGS HAVE TO CHANGE!

Of all the reasons to hate a multi-national corporation with a history of anti-trust and monopolising practices, you've chosen the position of a button.

are you autistic?
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:09, closed)

there are other reasons too, like the fact that windows is

costly
slow
buggy
unreliable
unstable
uses to much system resources
ugly overall
and many more

thats why i switched to linux

and stopped having sex?

?
considering that im under-age...no
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:20, closed)
this explains why you come across like a child
I thought it was because you were inbred or special-needs
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:25, closed)
???
Technically I'm a teenager as I'm 13, and also, you seem to be prejudice against linux users where as I'm only prejudice against windows, not windows users...
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:36, closed)
I'm not prejudiced against linux users... just you
I think someone's a bit cranky. Time for you to have a nap I think.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:39, closed)
Haha underage-pandering
Wonderful stuff
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:42, closed)
?
Yes but if you don't like me because I don't like windows, or because of anything I said earlier you obviously will dislike a lot of other linux users; as the views I expressed are also the views of most linux users.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:46, closed)
technically Linux is the better operating system
granted, but 2 thing stop me switching:
1. I like having a huge pool of free software and being compatible with the majority of computer users
2. fucking penguin Nazis like you, or rather the fear that I might become one if I ran Linux. You're only better than iPhone owners/mac users because there are less of you.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:53, closed)
if feeling the need to vent your spleen about something as innocuous as a computer operating system is a generic trait of Linux users
... then yes, I'm pretty sure I'd dislike them intently

and just to clarify, because your immature brain seems incapable of retaining information - you actually said "I hate people who work for microsoft". I mean, I'm not a scientist or anything, but this does seem to be prejudice against a group of people (bearing in mind that there's probably more people WORKING for Microsoft than there are USING linux)
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:58, closed)

what I meant was I hate the people who decided to make certain changes (the buttons switching round, internet explorer navigation bar, ect)
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:11, closed)
guess what
teenagers are children until they are 18

Words of advice for the rest of your childhood. Don't mention you use Linux to anyone. Don't have a rant about MS in public.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:43, closed)
luckily...
well luckily those who have been freed from the microsoft clutches can all gather to rant about microsoft in privacy at ubuntuforums.org
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:48, closed)
freed from the microsoft clutches....
oh dear.

Windows works just fine for most people, and even of those it doesn't, very few give a shit.

I was offering some advice that might help you in social situations, should you find yourself in any.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:51, closed)
???!
windows may work fine for most people, but it uses more system resources and is slower and unstable than mac or linux
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:54, closed)
I suspect those differences are barely noticable
my computer has vista home on it, and it works perfectly fast, and aside from my shit netgear usb wireless dongle being shit, I've never had a single crash, and it is popularly thought that Vista is slower and shitter than most of the other windows versions.

edit: I've got off my original point here which was: have these views by all means, feel smug and self-satisfied by them, but don't let on to anyone, it is very unlikely to advance your case with the boy/girl/creature of your affections (should they actually exist in the real world)
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:56, closed)

I dont think that there are many people who would judge somebody by the operating system that they use, and besides who would want to date them???
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:04, closed)
it's not about what operating system they use
that's the point.

it's about them not wanting to date someone who would talk about their operating system, so I was advising you not to.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:05, closed)

I hardly ever talk about the fact that im a linux user, and in no way do i think that linux users are better than windows and mac users.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:15, closed)
The REAL problem is to do with prolifieration...
there are so many different people using windows that they need to make a one-size-fits-all solution which invariably leads to problems.

Linux on the other hand, when I installed Ubuntu on my (not old, not brand new) spare PC at work, the display didn't work and I needed to fuck around, dredge forum after forum to find a solution - wheras Windows... just... worked...

if OSX or Linux had the numbers of windows, only then could you stand on your socially-stunted pedestal and feel smug. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen any time soon so you'll just have to continue pissing in the wind
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:02, closed)

with linux there are many different distributions to cater to everybodys different needs, they don't need to take a "one size fits all" approach
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:08, closed)
but don't you see, this is far more intricacies that the average user wishes to go through just to type up their essay

(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:16, closed)

thats what ubuntu is for, ubuntu is for those who don't want to have to decide which distro to use, ubuntu does most things that the aforementioned would need to do, and lets not forget that linux is FREE aswell as faster
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:22, closed)
fun...
oh and have fun with your security risks and viruses
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:50, closed)
I don't think I've ever had a virus
and at 13 do you have a lot of stuff that is vital you keep secure?

I doubt it. I certainly don't and I'm more than twice your age.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:52, closed)

as well as my laptop, there is also a family computer in my house, and on that computer are many precious photos and videos, plus besides arguing with full grown men on the internet my hobbies include programming, and I wouldn't want to loose any projects im working on...
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 14:59, closed)
I'm assuming you are aware of how many people there are in the world, and how many use the internet etc.
only a very small proportion of those are out to get anyone, or invade their security.

With this in mind, hardware failure is a far more likely reason why you will lose that stuff, which is independent of OS.

In my view that means your argument there is irrelevant. and if I were you I'd backup to another hard drive.

Your arguing skills aren't too bad though, I'll give you a small amount of credit. Worth developing, but on a better subject.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 15:03, closed)
Oh dear God.
I've found me a liar. You're not 13, according to stories on your profile, you're a lot older than that.

And FFS you're not going to win people over sounding like a smug, self-satisfied little twat.

You won't win many friends that way either.

And yes, Hubare, I am well aware of the irony of the above statement.
(, Wed 7 Apr 2010, 16:18, closed)

I can't figure out why MS got rid of the picture and scanner wizard thingy from XP. It was one of the only times there was a MS program which worked brilliantly and was easier to use than many other programs.
It was so easy how you could save photos and call them 'day at the beach' and have the program number them . . . . Just a thought :)
