Personally I make sure they bring a bucket of their own electricity.

And having paid you, they'll then bill you for expenses incurred while doing the work for you,
and charge you the charge you issued them. Quite reasonably too.

had someone come out a while ago
to replace my windows. they used many power tools, but my new windows are nice, so i didn't mind. i made them cups of tea and chatted with them, they were really very pleasant.
before they left, they gave me a £5 lecky card to cover any electricity they'd used, which must have been less than £1.
no complaints here.
