This is a question Social Networking Gaffes

Freddy Woo writes, "My school bully just friended me on Facebook!" No doubt he pokes him, and then demands his lunch money.

Personally, last month a scantily clad young woman confused me with her fiance, with whom I share a first and last name. I'm still not sure she's noticed, but she's going to be mortified when she does.

What's the biggest mistake you've made using a social networking site?

Assuming you're serious
it's a private message on here. Click on your messages link at the top and take note of the URL that comes up.

Me too, I think
I had a reverse kind of thing with manhole covers while in Paris recently.

(Non-French speakers: 'Gaz' is French for 'gas')

I've been chuckling
on and off for what must be a good 20years about Gaz Top. What kind of monumental bell-end calls themself Gaz Top? Ah, I see - Gaz Top. That kind of bell-end.

I saw him referred to recently as Gareth 'Gaz Top' Jones. Which in turn reminded me of Oran 'Juice' Jones.

And thus the circle of bell-endery was complete.

As you were.

But
Why the word Gaz?

Gaz mythology
I don't know how I heard this, but apparently in the early days of b3ta there was a poster called Gaz. He would send stuff to people via IM, hence the term "I've been gazzed".

Of course, this could be false. I have no idea how I came to believe it.

GAZ IM ME
was how I rememebered it, something from the FAQ I believe? (Long before this place had a PM feature). Not sure. 4rthur simply states:

GAZ IM ME : Gaz Eye Emm Mee
What was originally in the b3ta FAQ as an example
1 oh shit : well I fucked that up, didn't I

I use the word "gaz" all the time.
And by "all the time", I mean in work emails. "Any problems, gaz me..."
