I never press the button if I can help it
If I can cross the road safely without bothering the traffic, all the better.

People who press the button when they don't need to and skip straight across the empty road, leaving one car (me) to stop a while later at the red light need shooting, after several hours of light, recreational torture on acid.

Worse still ....
.... are the OCD knobends who can't walk past a pedestrian crossing without pressing the button even when they've no intention of crossing the road.
