Made me think about some rubbish I heard years ago (Which I think Vagabond below has been exposed to also) about why girls wear lipstick. It's one of those theories you listen to earnestly, nodding and smiling, whilst thinking, "Why can't _I_ get paid to do this kind of mind numbing, pointless research, dammit?"

I had to read The Monstrous Feminine at uni
Don't bother - it's awful, men-hating bollocks, but the cover is interesting:



Almost everyone I encountered or showed it to fell into one of two categories, which was divided almost exactly down the line of their gender - men: "Meh. So anyway - fancy a beer?" women: "Oh that's disgusting."

The phenomenon was really quite interesting, I thought.
