Seriously - it is pretty amazing how upset some people get about the difference between atheism and agnosticism.
It's actually a little bit scary - like teenagers that shoot each other for liking the wrong rapper.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 9:37, 40 replies)
God. You're right.
There have been literally millions of deaths attributed to explaining the perfectly simple difference between those two words and absolutely none at all attributed to, say, arcane differences in interpretation of religious texts.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 9:44, closed)
No one has ever been killed by an atheist or an agnostic, thankfully.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 9:58, closed)
Hahahaha.
You'll be arguing that Hitler was an atheist next. You're like all the clichés of internet religious apologism rolled into one.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 9:59, closed)
It's interesting how questioning atheism is often interpretted as adhering to a religion.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:23, closed)
Almost as interesting as you interpreting my post as having anything to do with religious adherence.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:26, closed)
I would never flatter myself as such, but your introduction of religious texts as a subject threw me somewhat.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:28, closed)
Really? You were thrown by such an obvious comparison?
Do you have a shock every morning when you open the curtains and see daylight?
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:30, closed)
I never open the curtains, duh.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:34, closed)
Yes. Quite. How silly of me.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:50, closed)
Yes, I'm sure they have.
Having the motivation to kill someone due to being an atheist or an agnostic, maybe.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:01, closed)
Atheists and agnostics don't kill people
guns kill people
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:06, closed)
Guns don't kill people
rappers do.

I saw it on a documentary

I don't know many people who get upset about the difference between atheists and agnostics
The difference is fairly obvious and well-defined
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:10, closed)
See this thread for details.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:22, closed)
There's literally nothing in this thread about the difference between atheists or agnotics
Or people getting upset about it. Shambo thinks you're engaging in hyperbole, everyone else is making gangsta jokes.

I don't even think it's that big a deal even if we were to take it seriously - as Dawkins' 7-point scale of religiosity demonstrates, we're all "agnostics" to some degree. Well, except believers. But I'd count myself as a 6.9 rather than a 7 because no-one can state with absolute certainty the existence or non-existence of a god. Well, except believers. But they're wrong.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:57, closed)
Hahahaha
Precisely.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 11:08, closed)
oh yes, you were absolutely right
look at us all getting upset
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 11:11, closed)
Yes you can.
As there is absolutely nothing anywhere that even hints at suggesting that someone could speculate that such an entity exists.

There are no gods. And that's it. I don't have to prove it, because there is no counter point beyond 'well, there might be!'

Yeah...There 'might' be a planet made of lego where the trees grow leaves with IKEA instruction drawings on them....
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 15:03, closed)
Enraged, online.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 15:12, closed)
Not in the least.

Just pointing out the obvious.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 23:36, closed)
I get absolutely FURIOUS about the distinction between "owing to" and "due to".
Wait ... I don't mean "FURIOUS", do I?

I mean that I don't mind at all but sometimes politely explain the difference when people make a mistake.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:25, closed)
I'm the same with "less" and "fewer"

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:53, closed)
Less people can right proper due to badder educations.

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:55, closed)
Is it just me, or are you flogging the atheism thing harder than usual recently?

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:30, closed)
You're becoming a one trick pony, Vagabond.
And its not a fun trick any more.
(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:34, closed)
Does this mean you want to start reading other people's posts?

(, Fri 20 May 2011, 10:36, closed)

"You're becoming a one trick pony, Vagabond."

Becoming?

That pony has long since bolted.
