This is a question Starting something you couldn't finish

Finnbar says: I used to know a guy who tattooed LOVE across his left knuckles, but didn't tattoo HATE on the other knuckles because he was right-handed and realised he couldn't finish. Ever run out of skills or inspiration halfway through a job?

Things I've started to learn and lost interest in...
In no particular order:

HTML
C+
Visual Basic
Harmonica
Piano
Fencing
Judo
French
Italian
EDIT: and the ukulele too...

It amazes me to this day that I've managed to learn to play the guitar

You HAVE to take up the piano.
It's not quite as RAWK as the guitar I'll grant you, but then with a guitar you don't have an orchestra at your fingertips...

you do
orchestra ladies LOVE guitarists (this was supposed to be a 'fingering' type joke, but i'm struggling)

Years of studying music alongside such ladies...
sadly proves that they do not.

Perhaps, being a pianist as well, I was considered some sort of shadowy interloper?

could be
your aftershave.

I'm pretty hopeless on a guitar, but I have one or two little ditties that I have precticed the living days lights out of, and can sort of give the impression I'm much better than I am.

In my wilder days, before marriage and kids, this led to the occasional success.

Every time I hear Tim Minchin it makes me wish I could play the piano...
I've not been listening to him much lately though, since I've only ever heard or seen him with Nina... and in fact heard of him through her too.

Fuck, everywhere I look there's another painful thing...

*can almost hear Nina shouting "Eeeeemmmooooooo!" and pointing at me*

Perhaps find a different awesome pianist type comedian for a while to start with...
I can only think of Bill Bailey or, slightly less relevant, Les Dawson at the moment...

Umm...

you need to add ukulele to that list :)

(, Tue 29 Jun 2010, 21:26, closed)
See, I didn't even finish the list properly!

I see that you didn't even get as far...
...as learning the second "+" in "C++".

(Yes, I know I'm making fun of a typo. I am a bad man.)

Ha, indeed. I'll leave it like that, don't want you to feel foolish ;)

I tried
BASIC
C++
Delphi
Visual Basic
HTML
HTML again

The only one I was any where past poor (as opposed to piss poor) was BBC BASIC. The others I didn't even get past 'Hel...'

Forget C++ anyway
C#/.NET is where it's at.
