Add to this anyone else who slaps their guitar while playing it. It's a truly insufferable habit, and will cause any song's smugness level to rocket.

Personally, and I know many will disagree, I think he is a bit like James Blunt. Pretty good in small doses albeit not perfect. I think the problem lies in the mainstream getting hold of these people and forcing us to listen to them at every turn. Then they become annoying and we end up hating them.
