The Sound of Silence
In this country, the not exactly united states, there is a so-called band called Journey. Foul, wretched, intestinal-tempest-causing caterwauling laid artlessly over an overproduced wall of music-like masturbation and aural twaddle. And with a vocalist that looks like a Skexis and sings like Witchiepoo giving birth to a saguaro. And, most wretchedly retchable of all, is how popular this cretinous bile is over here in the former colonies.

I pray to every God ever imagined that you never get any of it over there.

Alas... Alas...
Glee did a cover of "More Than a Feeling" which went down a storm over here. In my day there were infidels that listened to "Escape", including an old boyfriend who was cast unto the pit, for that, yea and for subjecting his nearest and dearest to 2112, which was nearly as bad.

Says a lot when a pop-culture reference in a cartoon is more identifiable than the band themselves. Ask anyone around here to name a Journey song and you get 3 lines of Don't Stop Believing, then blank stares and muttered apologies.

I don't mind 'em, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Styx and all that sort of stuff. Mind you, I'm getting on a bit.
