but step down any of the side streets and there are places for a third of the price. A pint will be between 1-2 pounds, a main course will be 5-6 quid.

it's the subsidized public canteens that sell the real Polish food for about 2 quid a portion. But you'll be playing roulette with it, since they deffo won't speak English.

that's pork meatballs with mashed potatoes and chopped salad (probably grated carrot, grated beetroot, lettuce etc)

KOTLET SCHABOWY is just schnitzel, GULASZ is any meaty stew etc etc. It's just your typical meat and two veg.
