I fixed the ringing note and revived two dead ones by sanding down the metal reeds.
I assume there was a microscopic bit of highly resonant rust at a sympathetic/ harmonic point. It was an interesting sound, quite musical.

Any ideas for a John Cage style prepared organ? I've already thought of using a slinky as a spring reverb, and chucking a few clock bells and chimes in there.

Ping pong balls would do nothing but tiny ball bearings might work... I could use a magnetic switch to turn them on and off too.

Complaining about your organ woes is one thing
but if you want actual advice you might be better off going to b3ta.com/organadvice and then when it doesn’t work just closing your browser forever.

That was quite a hurtful thing to say, Aardvark.
You're settling in well.

Yes, I’m back from holiday and ready to put in the hard work of alternating between being lovely and a complete dickhead.

Some mates of mine made a reverb with a slinky, a Walkman earpiece, and a stylus pickup
It was fucking great. Every time you knocked it, it sounded like Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek soundtrack.

They are fun. Right by my desk I have a loose 2ks2b-1a, not wired to anything
waiting for a worthy bit of kit to mod it into... After I'm done with this organ, and trying to making a lithophone out of discarded floor tiles, I might make a stupid dub alarm box for it.

Add something that makes it sound like a theremin

There is a lot of room to add modifications but
I don't fancy adding electronics. It's a mains powered device that I'd like to sell once I'm done with it...

Rig up the swell box to trigger the couplers in a Mexican wave formation.

A great suggestion
let down only by the fact that this reed organ has no swell box or console.*

Technically it has a console with 1 control (being a volume control slider that opens and closes the 'throat' of the air pump motor).

Shove it up your arse and fart it out of your cock.

By which I mean please be very quiet as if you were dead.

It runs quieter than a Bontempi.

just want to say that "please be very quiet as if you were dead" is one of my absolute favourite phrases ever
