keeping it cool for World Refrigeration Day

(, Thu 26 Jun 2025, 9:55, archived)
I liked refrigerators before they were cool.

my fridge has a dial from 0-5
is 0 coldest or is 5 coldest? do all fridges follow the same rules? does the dial represent temperature or cooling power?

It’s the same principle as the numbers on your toaster.
Possibly they mean something, possibly they don’t, but we mere mortals are not allowed to know.

I just think of them as Arbitrary Cooling Units (ACU) and Arbitrary Toasting Units (ATU). I hope this helps.

On a toaster they're usually a time interval. In minutes.
If you can cope with something as Stephen-Hawkingishly mind-bending as that.

Nah, you lost me.

Mine goes up to elevenses

"Elevenses" sounds like something Gollum would say and Bilbo would eat.
