Had a request for an oral liquid presentation of a strong opioid painkiller for a palliative care patient.
At the moment he's having to swallow 10 or 11 capsules every day for breakthrough pain, which is not ideal. Total cost to the NHS per month: about £65.

The good news is that we can make a liquid form for him, but it'll cost nearly £1000 a month instead. I think he'll be continuing to swallow the capsules.
