Rumours abound that a child resembling Maddy McCann has been found in India,
awaiting DNA results.

That is truly Monty Pythonesk hide and seeking!

EDIT: It would've made more sense and been a lot easier to ask her if she was Maddie:D

Imagine what it'll do to the sales of Kate's book...

I think it's the perfect thing to invigorate sales! All they have to do is add a few chapters to the end detailing how she has been found, and in what circumstances
and it will shoot to the top of the bestsellers list again. All those people who felt it necessary to buy it in the first place will most likely buy it again for the extra material
edit: just read the story on the D'Fail (yeah, I know...)
Best comment so far on the police checking the child's identity:
why DNA? she has a very distinctive eye.......

...and with the happy ending comes the Hollywood deal.
Alternatively, could go the way of this excellent sketch from Monkey Dust.
My brother served Gerry McCann the other day in the pub he works in. But his best celebrity story recently was when he had to give Ray Mears directions.
