# I use MS Gif Animator, which is free but not particularly good - it works but any optimising you have to do by hand.
I've heard the GIMP does animated GIFs too but not that intuitive to learn.

Same problem here. PM 'Maiden'as she had a great tutorial and moving backgrounds which helped me but now seems to be gone from her website.

I wouldn't try it with a single photo. Instead I would try to tile it so the same chunk can repeatedly appear from behind periodically and keep shrinking as the camera moves away.

This probably isn't proper technique, as it came from the top of my head as I was typing something completely different :^P
