I've had 2 shits today.
That's unusual for me - I usually only go once a day.
I haven't eaten anything particularly spicy or out of date, so why do you think it happened?

beans
changes in weather also cause changes to the digestive system which might be disruptive -- causing loose or frequent stool.

An indication of size would also be helpful

Somewhere between 3 and 4 I think.
Thinking about it: the first shit was at work, maybe I was unconsciously anxious about being away from my desk for too long so didn't finish the job.

Well 3 and 4 are considered normal and healthy
So probably all well (unless they are a funny colour).
There's also now a type 8, "mucus-like quality, sprayed out" but I don't think it's officially been recognised.

:)
Dug out the full description: "Type 8: Stool has a mucous-like consistency, with bubbles and a foul odor (sprayed out). This may indicate unsafe amounts of alcohol and/or recreational drugs."

Haha - foul odour.
Instead of the usual floral bouquet one has come to expect.

Trust me, if you deal with poo on a daily basis
you soon get desensitised to normal poo odour, and it has to be really bad to qualify as "foul".

I'm in the social care sector
Not so much now, but I've worked in the past with people who are fecally incontinent

I'm pretty sure I couldn't do that.
But I'm glad there are loonies like you who can.

What does it mean if soft blobs float
I read in the Daily Mail it was something to do with fat and I will probably die soon.

Should indicate a high fibre diet, and generally be a good thing
but I'm not really enough of an expert

No - the fat thing is a fallacy
It's gas that makes them float. So basically farty foods.

Wouldn't trust her opinion on the real thing though

There are too many random influences which could cause this.
I have been random recently but the bacteria in my gut could be full of wine and curry. Pro-Biotic yoghurt drinks will solve this imbalance.

Well I'm not concerned just yet.
But are those pro-biotic drinks really any good? I assumed they were just a gimmick.

I believe they are a con, yes
As I understand it they contain a negligible amount of something the body produces naturally in far vaster quantitites so long as diet is reasonably balanced
