I know lots of you on here are very creative and stuff and I was wondering if you'd have any words of wisdom for my friend Haroon. He's very talented I think but he gets no support at home, coming from a background that doesn't really approve of pictures anyway. He keeps creating but doesn't really know how to get his work out there. Maybe someone here would know of some publications or agencies/galleries who might like his work, or skate/surf/snowboard companies or other creative people who might like to collaborate with him? Anything would be welcome, thanks for reading. I just posted this in links and they think I should ask you guys, apparently this is where the helpful people are.

Works for me, I've made a fortune without even lifting a pencil.

At least my suggestion would end up with us all getting nice cheap blow jobs!
And your Enterprise there appears to be doing a rather impressive side on drift! Is Sulu at the helm again? those Japs are great at that sort of thing.

All I can think of is for him to bombard the companies/agencies he likes with examples of his work, and hope that someone recognises his ability.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Additionally enter any and all competitions you can find relating to the practice, ask for experience in illustration studios if there are any nearby. Furthermore go networking in art shows.

He shouldn't look for approval from neanderthals, grow some balls as he'll need them and just get out there with his book

we'd all be millionaires!
but it seems like the answer is hassle the fuck out of everyone
and Read Seth Godin like your life depends on it (Tribes would be a good start)

There are other sites he could join, like DeviantArt, which is bit wanky, but it's a start.
If he's going to join b3ta, that's hey wow great, but if all he does is post his stuff and doesn't get involved he will piss some board members off and should expect grief (see above for examples). Here ends the friendly advice.
Edit: Just had a look at his stuff (by him, do you mean you?) It's pretty good stuff, but not really b3ta unless he does more funny. Tell 'him' to try DeviantArt.

I have ladybits and rather less talent. He already has a deviantart account. I know that there are some people who have managed to translate talent into money not just internet cred and I know some of them use b3ta now and then, but deviantart doesn't seem to be the place to get advice on that, just a really nice ego massage.

Back in the bad old days this meant walking round That London with a door-sized case full of drawings under your arm. I'm sure if he (politely) emailed a few agencies he'd get some feedback and probably some practical advice as well.
