When the board's on a roll it's fab (perfectly illustrated by the Osborne spate from yesterday), but it's nice to have something out there that's a bit of a trigger for those moments when hummus is at a low ebb and it's just nice to lose yourself in a little project for a short while.

sometimes when there are just a few people mucking around something glorious can happen and as long as everyone is welcoming then we have good b3ta times and then the challenge comes up and it gets swamped in album covers or movie posters and none of the people that participate wind up sticking around.
I mean if they're going to stick around it's more because of funtimes and friendly people rather than a specific image challenge

Not every challenge takes over the board, but I know what you mean, some days the speed of posts makes conversation impossible.
Basically what I'm saying is we need more divisive politicians dying.

Haven't seen the board move that fast in a very long time.

for album covers \o/s and movie poster \o/s I say
*doesn't really say, but they are a bit shit tbh when there's trillions of images on the internets to play with
also b3ta clique \o/s

it is far more engaging having to really think about a subject out of your usual 'chop comfort zone'... imo. i think there has been a decent mix of compos so far this year, some quite open stuff like the sheep/panda and the more wordy pun-type ones.

But I do like challenges. It's nice to see what other people come up with when given the same subject.

but I can honestly say that a lot of fun b3ta people stopped visiting /board because of the ongoing shitty challenges and yes freebase too I guess I have to shoulder some of that responsibility.

Some really dreadful-sounding ideas have spawned some fantastic work, and yes there are some where loads of entries crop up, but I don't think that's in and of itself a bad thing. Some image challenges give noobies a bit more confidence in posting, which can only be to the good IMHO.

apart from the bits that I didn't agree with. Obviously.
