One of my closest friends and I correspond a lot using text messages. Since we're both unusual and work in strange environments, some of our texts, we realized, would look really odd out of context. We thought it would be funny to send them out into the world, bereft of context. Good etiquette for blogs is to post once on /links when you have enough entries to launch it. Text-on-a-pic or non-b3ta in-jokes are usually going to get you a flaming. Other than that, stay and play and photoshop some stand-alone jokes that work without knowing about your blog. You can always promote your blog in your sig.
