# quick threadjack
need help!!!!!!!!!
my kitten is only about 2months old

he arched his back, put his ears back and tried to hiss at me when I walked towards him earlier. now he keeps running away when I make sudden movements

3days of no attention(gone for the weekend) and loud music= a cranky kitten.

whats the turn around time for this? or is permently screwed. ive never seen him run around and claw at everything like this. damn ive only been gone for 3days
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:18, archived)
# turn it off and reboot.
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:20, archived)
# if that fails
get an upgrade..
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:22, archived)
# i think the ancient
order of the kitten dance needs to be performed
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:24, archived)
# hahahahahaha
I feel evil for laughing now.

I would seek professional cat help from a vet maybe.
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:25, archived)
# like a vets going to know the problem!!
Give him catnip, and maybe a wee dram of scotch in his water bowl.
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:29, archived)
# shouldn't be too long
kittens are typically hyper anyway, and i expect he's just forgotten your smell
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:20, archived)
# 3 days
is a large portion of his life - at this stage of his life he's hardly going to be used to being left alone either.

Just take everything slow and easy, and if that fails throw him at a wall until he calms down.*

*100% of bad advice.

in a box

The last time someone tried that, the universe popped.

# Could be a coincidence
Growing animals' brains (esp. mammals, esp. predators) frequently outstrip the growth rate of the cranium for short periods. This can lead to some pretty weird behaviour. It will probably be fine in a couple of years.

# did you come back with
cat/dog smell or have you been using bleach? Our cat goes mental if I've been cleaning or nearother animals. Approach him with your palms turned towards him and he should come round
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:25, archived)
# Or slash your palms
to the bone.

(post pix!!)
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:27, archived)
# Well, yes
that is the drawback with my method! Still, you could enter the pics in the comp
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:31, archived)
# Im sure he'll come round, you've just got to let him do it in his own time:)
When we got our kitten, (which was feral) it was 3 months before he would even let us stroke him. Now he's as soft as butter:)
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:26, archived)
# 3 days is a long time for a kitten that small.
I don't blame him for thinking you're an intruder now - why the loud music btw?

I'd keep everything calm and quiet, and put a saucer of food or kitty treats down, and sit near it quietly until he comes up and eats, and speak very very gently to him to get him used to your being around again. And don't try to touch him for a bit. And don't leave him again for a few months if you can help it.
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:27, archived)
# Try pinning him to your sleeve
every time you go out. He'll soon appreciate being left at home

# ok heres what happens
now when i put my hand near him..he jumps at it..he doesnt scratch it but he jumps at it fast and violent

now hes bouncing off the walls..literally. hes jumpin then bouncing off of them..whoa this is weird.
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:37, archived)
# wash your hands?
maybe there's a scent on you he doesn't like...

or maybe he's trying to play - if he's not batting you, maybe he just wants to play tag?
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:41, archived)
# I may have figured it out
I think hes just hungry..hahahaha

hes chowing down like no other..but i could have sworn he just ate a whole bowl like 3hrs ago. wow..lets see what happens when hes done
(, Tue 13 May 2003, 12:44, archived)
# good advice all
