There's pros and cons either way....Gif will only have 256 colours, JPG can have 16 million.

yeahi know. but 9 times out of 10, people tell other people on the board "save it as gif" not jpg.

well gif you keep the sharpnessbut jpegs give you a much better color range, and really if you don't turn the compression up too high, it stays pretty sharp

I don't mean quality as in wooness,just, as blackmoon said, you only get 256 colours so it will look a little drab and have more compression defects then a similar file-sized jpeg or ping
