ive had that said before.
i can see how we sound like rage on some stuff, but i really dont get the chillis comparison. we sound nothing like em. And theres only 2 or 3 songs that sound like rage.

i doubt it.
plus, you have never heard me playing the stuff I WANT to play. The stuff i do with my band is about 30% of what im capable of. There isnt a person alive that can play a faster fucking riff than me.

because im not JUST into metal.
I put a band together briefly in Lancaster that blew the fucking heads off anyone that heard it cos we were that fucking heavy, and fast. The guy who runs the studio that we practice at said in 20 years, hed never heard anything like it. The stuff I play with my band is fun to play, and easy to play, and has a cool groove to it. I enjoy playing alongside the other guys in my band as we're all friends. none of us have the same taste, and so thats the way we sound at the end of the day.

hehe ok
fair enough, im not just into metal myself, but lets face it, it fecking rules. ive probably heard heavier but then i do span quite wide over the metal genre, listen to 'fuck....im dead' and you'll get the idea

it does indeed fecking rule.
and if i knew more people into thrash/death then id start a band like that. but i dont. the guys i started the band with in lancaster all graduated from uni this year, and fucked off down south, so that was the end of that. It was brief, but it was fucking unbelievable. We were playing under the name "corpse on a string" just cos it was a stupid dumbass type death name. We sounded like Slipknot crssed with slayer, but on one guitar, one bass and one drumkit, and my mate Daz screaming his fucking head off and tearing at the walls.

yeah
there aren't enough thrash and death fans around. im off to uni myself very soon, hopefully i'll meet up with likeminded people.

you'll probably get stuck with a bunch of people you don't like and have to try to get on with them for at least a year and go slowly crazy in their company that you can't get away from.

the band that i know are metalcore/hardcore
are called scarlet bullet lake.. they really are shit hot, ive been in a band with the bassist before and he's damn good, 'cept his main bass is in for repairs at the moment :S. if you havent heard of gutworm the main band on the night then you're a fool, theyre huge on the uk underground :)

havent been to any of their shows though. been out of the loop whilst ive been at uni. Tell you something though, look out for a band called MERICHANE from lancaster. they fucking RULE. and i very rarely say that about bands at our level, cos bands at our level are usually shit.

thats so fucking weird, no they arent, but i also know my red bullet, ive been in battle of the bands with them in bolton, seen them at a few local pubs too, i sorta know ramsey who is the lead guy (i.e. talked to him a few times), but theyre emo guys and im not a huge fan of the music to say the least

cos my red bullet were "band of the month" the month after us on some website or other. trippy that they share a name.
When i get back to uni, im starting my own solo project, of seriously heavy grooves, like Pantera style stuff. I'll send some links your way, see what you think.

no. avoid.
i got into a big argument with em when they played a battle of the bands with us. I thought they were utterly shite, and their singer had a strop when they didnt win, so i basically told him he was a childish cunt, and his band (and his mates) all started giving it some. But they were fucking wank. shit vox, shitter guitars and the drums were out of time. At one point in time I was inviting em to come down to our next gig and Id personally kick the shit out of them onstage. It was pretty heated. But theres a guy who plays for em that was suggesting that I cant play metal riffs, cos of what I do with publicide. I wanted to tear his fucking head off. But yeah, stay away from em, cos they suck ass. They think theyre like ULTRA heavy, but theyre not, theyre just a mess. I mean, I listen to some aggressive, abrasive music, but this was just noise. I believe I called them "the audio equivalent of bad handwriting" at the time.

I do need to practice more though. My mate Daz called me "machine gun" cos of how fast i play, it sounds like a fucking uzi going off.

i dunno the style that i play right now is......probably metalcore...stupid fast followed by slow grooves.........drop c tuning is a blessing

yeah.
the corpse stuff was all drop B. gauge 13 strings on an epiphone SG. could barely bend the fuckers, it was great! Its a great tuning to sing over, cos ive got quite a deep voice, and it actually gives me some range.

A is good on a 7 string. My SG didnt like it too much though. Drop B was plenty heavy. I hired this piece of shit Peavey amp, cranked everything up to 10 and tried make it explode. Those were the days....
This year im putting together a Guns N Roses style blues/hard rock act, with a few mates of mine. But I still wanna do the heavy shit.

arrghh
death to 7 strings...unless steve vai is behind one. i own a really cheap shitty ibanez but it seems to manage alot, speccially weird string guages (i use ernie heavy bottom, slinky tops). i have a peavey amp too but thats pretty shite, but it can knock out some pretty heavy crap. hehe you going back to the old school, everyone seems to be doing that thesedays.........'death to the darkness' i hate those fuckers

To be honest
I like the way it's clean and trick-free. I can't stand busy design.
I have to say though, I hate the navigation. You should put text under the links to indicate what they are. I stared at the screen for 10+ seconds before I worked out how to navigate, others will too.
Generally ace though! Woo!

Yeah
I know about the problem with navigation, if it comes to it I may just redesign the navigation and use the current design.
I'm not too fond of the "updates" iframe either though.

You know
with your flash skills you could do the navigation with that, keep the same look, and have a small actionscript flash file, which downloads once in a top frame, instead of the javascript/html changing the images in onmouseover manouvers.

i've said it before,
but get a pen, get a stack of paper and start pissing about. or use Photoshop.
write down your tree of pages, (what _has_ to be on every page, what is most important visually etc) then draw as many scribbly ideas as you can. once you get one that looks like it could work, draw it out in photoshop
(this is what i do - depends on the style you might want to go straight into dreamweaver - it usually ends up being too graphic intensive..), then away you go.
it's not a complicated site, i can't see your problem - is it the look, the layout or what?

how are you doing it at the moment?
you obviously have the PS skills - why not draw a spiffy design then work out how to make it later. Don't even think about tables or the making part at all until it looks good.

sketch on paper, then knock up a preview in photoshop, then build it upon that.

top means
more horizontal space, less room for navigation
side means les- well you get the idea (and got it a while back methinks)
definitly work out your page-structure first anyway. - that way you should know exactly what you need. Then try different options for the layout. Choose 3/4 colours/shades that really go together, put some roundy/angular(depending on which way you bend) corners on, and bob is you dads brother. fuck icons, poncy buttons, rollover images, graphical text, you should end up with a slick, clean design that looks good and is easy to get around, perfect for the real point of your site, showing off the content.
colour is very important (lots of offence, but i don't really like your present colour scheme)

Colours - I did like at the time
but about 2 weeks later I didn't like it anymore.
In my head I have a vague image of a dark menu on the left. But the thing is I don't like dark designs, I like them to have a light background.

open the colour-chart thing in
PS (can't remember what it's called but not the picker) and find a good shade, then you have a light background, a table filer, a text and table-border colour all derived from the same shade - choose a nice one and it will all fit together nicely.
Stick to one font, and sans-serif is always better in my opinion (definitly for titles anyway).
shading always looks a bit cheap in my opinion - i prefer solid colour personally (or those one-pixel one colour, next another look nice sometimes)
i think one of the problems in your current site is the parts see kind of seperate, not really smooth - they don't fit together. try to get it all looking as one, smooth transitions between menu and content (not shading, i mean so it looks like one thing)
