# <advice>
so, I have this group of friends who has stopped talking to me since my seeing of this new girly-girl. Trouble is, they've never even met her, and they're judging me based on things that have yet to happen.

Now, the lead friend behind all of this is a girl... is is jealousy? Is it... well, what is it?

Also, should I tell them all to COCK OFF since NONE of them have talked to me in almost three weeks?

/advice

# no, make them a gift
if they refuse then, then they must be cold heartless, former friends.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:26, archived)
# GOOD ADVICE
Me likey!

Thanks SE, is there a full moon out toinight or something?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:28, archived)
# not sure,
i prefer to see pictures of the sky from the internet, they can filter out clouds and light polution
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:29, archived)
# Well, in my experiance...

When one of 'the group' gets a new boy/girlfriend, then that person normaly neglets the group. It's bound to happen as the social time is now shaird out - and to this stranger.

However, this is better than going with someone within 'the group', as the group splinters off, and can leave with alot of nasty bickering and general unfluffyness.

Sollution? get the girl into the group.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:28, archived)
# Yes, and I would understnad that...
BUT...

They have not even met her yet. It's completely uncalled for behaviour.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:28, archived)
# With all friends,

they have those points. I've noticed that with girls, its whoever isn't in the room at that point in time - but you have to take the good with the bad, or just say 'fuck it', but the truth is, do you really want to risk loosing all your friends just for a girl you started seeing?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:32, archived)
# For this one?
Oh indeed. I feel like I'm 14 again.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:39, archived)
# Then its probs best to invite them all out to a meal,
or to your house. get some take-away, have a few drinks, and show them they are not to be jellouse.

I think trying to find if the problem is real, or emotional (jellusy etc), could help you alot. And having a gathering will help you at lest find that out.

How old are you btw?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:45, archived)
# Too fecking old
to be acting like a teenager

32
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:47, archived)
# Ahh',
Then your not just some puppy-love-striken-16-year-old, so you know whats real (to an extent, as no one really does untill a good few years).

Might aswell get in with her group of mates, maybe joining up the two groups together with a gathering.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:48, archived)
# Oh well yeah...
and for years I was quite the protective (of myself) person. The friend gathering isn't gonna happen, I'm afraid.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:50, archived)
# If they are your friends,
and they know you are a self-protective person (and I guess that means semi-low self-esteam, Don't want to get hurt / take the risk as much), then they should know that it hurts you when they are like this.

It kindda, remineds me of these little song I made up one day

I'll stand up and you'll see,
Im sick of being the novalty,
I thought we were friends,
Turns out I was wrong in the end.

So for once I stand up,
and I feel guilty as hell
I show that Im fed up,
and I feel guilty as hell
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:56, archived)
# yes
maybe a social get together with a no pressure atmosphere to introduce all to one another. But 3 weeks? maybe it's a lost cause and send them all a cock off email instead.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:29, archived)
# Nah' - why burn your bridges ?

Call them up, get 'em all down to the pub, and get sloshed.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:30, archived)
# Oh believe me...
I'm almost there...

I hate the silent treatment.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:32, archived)
# yeah
I was kidding about the email. If they are true friends and you are serious about this girl, then it will work out eventually.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:35, archived)
# I agree...
Reminds me, friends are having a music party on the 20th in Newport Beach...
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:40, archived)
# In my experience,
on one hand that's Bad 'cos it caused group breakup and Much Nastyness, but on the other hand I got together with Mrs Witchy as a direct result so woo!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:30, archived)
# sounds pretty shitty of thenm not to talk to you because of a girl
have you any idea why - do they simply hate her?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:28, archived)
# They've never met her
so.. strange indeed.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:35, archived)
# make them all wrestle
in jelly to a grinding death-metal soundtrack.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:28, archived)
# i agree with witchy
it should be a battle to the death for your friendship
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:32, archived)
# i think
you have missed out on the jelly in your summary - however I agree with your agreeance - with a slight emphasis on the jelly
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:34, archived)
# i think
a fight to the death can still take place in jelly
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:36, archived)
# ....and I wasn't talking
about death :) It all sounds like petty bitchiness to me so you could always have words with the chief noise-maker to try and find what her beef is with your new lass......
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:37, archived)
# can we still
have the jelly?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:40, archived)
# mmm....
jelly!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:41, archived)
# no, a fight to the death
i demand it
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:42, archived)
# translation for those of you who dont speak witchy:
"I say old chap, why not speak to the one who is causing the trouble and jolly well find out why she doesnt like your lovely lady friend, what?"

# In Cockney
Nonetheless...

SCHTEPINTYME!!!!!!!!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:44, archived)
# pfffffft :)
we should petition Cal to introduce a film-grain effect for cholmondely-warner style posts like that :)
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:44, archived)
# That's pretty tough
I guess you could drop a couple of them a line and see if there's some kind of logical reasoning behind it all, and if they're just cunts then fuck them and be happy with your new woman :)
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:28, archived)
# Let's see...
One insists that she is just busy...

One never mails back.

One replies with one-word phrases

and the last ALSO just does not reply.

I tell ya, it's like I had a relationship with the girl-friend that went awry and I'm some sort of cheating bastard.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:30, archived)
# Hurm...
Well, give it time. You're all too old for teenage bickering, so just give it a while and a couple'll come back. I, however, am old enough for teenage bickering should you need me.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:32, archived)
# Nah...
I agree...

I feel as if I am too old to deal with their shit regarding this matter.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:35, archived)
# Yeah :)
Show them just how stupid they're being and ignore it, you've got your new woman to be happy with.
Alternativly, you could all go outside and discuss it sensibly, in the street.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:41, archived)
# They must be killed!
You have b3ta now!

but on a serious note...My friends started judging me about a lass I'd met and they never knew...just tell them to fuck off and worry about their on feeble little lives! Be a friend...if they have advice or something to say, say it...if you don't want to take it,don't! And they should accept that!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:29, archived)
# *agony aunt mode*
If they've not met her, it's a mix of jealously and over-protectiveness. Let them meet and don't sulk if they don't get on straight away. Ignore and continue. I know these things :)
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:30, archived)
# I agree
I shall hang tough. I know they will love her as I do.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:33, archived)
# I really mean this....
the feeling of telling them to Cock Off is huuuuge. But if you rise above it, you will get such a kick when it works out.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:36, archived)
# You know what?
I agree...

But I have the mail ready just in case.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:41, archived)
# I dont tell my friends anything about my personal dealings.
This makes avoiding situations like this much easier.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:30, archived)
# HEY!
I'm your friend you assmonkey!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:33, archived)
# good point.
but you're not about to stop talking to me because of who I see are you? I dont tell the people I have to live with any of my dealings, that way they cant complain.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:34, archived)
# yeah that's true
unless she was like some psycho stalker axe murdering clepto...then i'd stop talking to you and start screaming at you!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:39, archived)
# Same,
I was quite friendly with a rather large girl, and I told them. The piss-taking got on my nerves so much.

Esspech as im not a skinny-lad m'self, and because I don't get girls every time I go out (don't get me wrong, I do get 'em), it really played on my mind.

They even smashed up the hotel, and tried to smash down the door when I was in there for the first time with the girl.

I now know who to tell what

/edit
I regrete not really meeting up with her over here because of that.

/edit 2
Club 18-30 made me pay for damages in the hall / my door - even though they saw I didn't do it.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:35, archived)
# fuckers.
.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:36, archived)
# exactly.
I told my friends about a past girlfriend, and they still take the piss to this day over what happened. I learned my lesson. Now I dont tell em anything.

Alllllll the shit thats been happening with me over the last few months, as youve no doubt heard about, none of my friends know about. and I dont want them to know, cos they wouldnt understand. Theyd just try and get me to go out with them on the pull and get off with some tarted up, pissed up slag. that kind of shit means fucking less than nothing to me.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:37, archived)
# you're maturing Tom
good for you!
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:40, archived)
# to be honest,
I matured like that a loooooong time ago, and have never been the sort of person to go out on the town and see how many slappers i could get off with. I just really dont see the point if it doesnt mean anything. Call me old fashioned or whatever, hell, call me gay if you like, but pulling random slags is not my idea of a good night out.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:42, archived)
# I find the one thing that really turns me off,
are slags with attitude. If they were nice, that would be different, but I just hate stuck-up girls.

They could look like britney spears, but if they were stuck-up, then I wouldn't (well, probaly.)
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:41, archived)
# I just have a policy that says if they wouldnt be interested in me when theyre sober,
they I'm not interested in them when theyre drunk. simple.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:43, archived)
# I like that
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:45, archived)
# jealous cunts
that is all :)
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:38, archived)
# I was the only one to get
any real action, in 2 weeks, on the whole holiday (aside from the couples, who don't count).

I was quite proud of that bit.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 0:40, archived)
# enough said
they will admit it one day :)
