# Can someone explain to me
why the background changes colour on this even though every image that it's composed of has been saved with the same settings, and the only thing to have changed is the position of the viking?

# Yes.

# Was it done
using PSP and animation studio?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:04, archived)
# They're all
.gifs saved in photoshop, using 16 colours. Then all strung together with microsoft gif animator.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:05, archived)
# that will be your problem then
MS gif animator is shit.

(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:07, archived)
# can you recommend a different one then?
that's free and easy to use?
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:08, archived)
# I've been using
imageready for years, but that's not meant to be free
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:11, archived)
# Which version of photoshop?
If it's version 5.5 or later, I would recommend using imageready to animate.

Make each frame as a new layer and then 'Jump to... imageready' from the file menu.

That way your works stays as a photoshop file until final optimisation and saving.
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:09, archived)
# Hmmm...
...which program are you using to animate?

Some programs optimise each frame separately instead of the animation as a whole - that may be the problem.

[edit] It may look nicer with a transparent background... and would save that nasty changing colour problem :)
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:05, archived)
# yes
transparent backgrounds are the way forward
(, Fri 5 Sep 2003, 16:08, archived)
# ooh,
i might try that then.
