# TJ: My hosting is about to expire and I need to find a better one.
Usual stuff, fast access, relatively stable, quite cheap. Has anyone got any suggestions?

# uh-hosting for ASP
dataflame.co.uk for PHP (£2.50/month)

though uh-hosting is the cheapest overall

# weren't people
having a whinge about uh-hosting earlier on today? Summat about reselling somebody elses bandwidth?
(, Wed 24 Sep 2003, 23:54, archived)
# I think
they're a reseller for fasthosts. is that a bad thing?

edit: I've never had any problems, and my site's working fine at the mo.

can't be arsed to explain. Just yes. That said I don't know of anybody better.

# Oh fuck it
I feel the need to clarify....

uh resell their ASP, which ain't too great. Mine reboots itself about 5 times a day and I don't get much control over the site, nor SMTP server. The FTP upload server is pants, and quite often doesn't even work. When I have a more specific problem, they do get it fixed fast though.

Their PHP has had nothing but good reviews that I've seen, and that they host that themselves. So yay for them. But it's more expensive and for less bandwidth.

# 5 times a day?
Really? Still it's cheap though innit.....mine's severalteen quid a month and I can't even shout at demon when it goes wrong.....well I can, but it doesn't fix owt. I s'pose running yer own webserver has more benefits than downfalls though.
(, Thu 25 Sep 2003, 0:31, archived)
# they had been having troubles
I've had the odd 5 minutes when I couldn't ftp in, but for £2 a month, paid monthly, rather than up front, I think that's OK
(, Thu 25 Sep 2003, 0:15, archived)
# That's better than OK :)
Hurrah for cheap webhosting!
