holy fuck. I'm having problems with my old skool games machine, as Tart Monkey will attest to if he's about, and I'm reading severalteen forums populated by the Great Unwashed.
I came across this. Read and wish your PC support was done by someone else (bear in mind I've been involved with customer support since 1985)

You don't have to deal with the fuckwit customers who write like that though, and still expect you to fix their PCs when they can't find the Start button because there's too many boxes which say "EXPLORER has caused an error in <unknown>" on them, when actually, you're there to support their broadband connection and not their cruddy PC World shitepile of a "computer"! Go back to fucking PC World, you stupid, idiotic, single-celled fuckwits!

Had a rebuild in last week. 'NTL won't support it'. Fair enough. Turns out it's three pikey OS upgrades on a base e-machine box (cheap SHIT) and suddenly doesn't have the antivirus software I installed eight months (and two OS's) ago.
Why the watermelon aren't they taking this piece of shit back to PC world?
(Edit). Please insert kitten. I'll be alright in a moment.

I may have spoken to that person... Getting a 169 IP, perchance?
EDIT: And please, please, please remind these people it's not our job to support their PCs? Ta.

But I contravened the first rule of support shortly after they got this machine. Turned out they wanted a CD writer. Sight-unseen, I decided to pick up a cheapy and fit it in my spare time.
So I get a drive. Went to fit the bloody thing. While I started to fit it I noticed the 'CD-Recordable' flash on their existing drive. Shit.
While trying to ascertain why they wanted an *additional* cd-burner, the guy paying for it pointed me to his HAPPY BABY ORANG-UTAN WATERMELONTARD of a son who told me exactly why it was not a burner.
He had some difficulty fifteen minutes later when I allowed him to browse his my docs folder from a laptop though...

occasionally you get a thought-provoking issue.
However your name gets viralled to a load of lowbrow arsewits who expect you to provide the same level of cheap support you give to people who have *bought their cranberrying machine off you*.

Sadly, I don't get to say "Ah yes, so-and-so wrote that, I recognise their clear, concise and gramatically correct memo" very often.

Generally because those who have two brain cells to rub together and thus could write clear, concise and gramatically correct memos don't need a lot of level 2 backup in the first place...

Level 2 isn't so much about backing up level 1, but more about having logins for things that they wouldn't dare let level 1 near.
