Being the "junior web person" that I am
I have a question: WHy do some resolve without it while others don't?

just the way your host sets it up
although, if you have full control, you can make the change.
The Independent surprisingly must have the www before it.

I think that the webmaster needs to set
www.blah.com to redirect to blah.com.
Or the other way round.
If there are no files located at www.blah.com, nothing can be displayed.
Edit: that was meant to be a 'nothing' website - didn't realise there's actually something there!

possibly, I'm really not the expert.
Listen to Beau - he probably knows a lot more.
There's some website out there that campaigns for the www to be made redundant, but I can't find it.
