Poor bloke.
You're honest about your problems, and they hound you out of your job.
Gits. :-(
(nice image though!)

Politicians shouldn't be allowed to have problems
Especially not mental ones.

Well that disqualifies anyone who wants to be one in the first place then...

:D Bless him.
I think he just wanted to be honest with everyone- I felt so fucking sorry for him.

I do agree on this matter.
And the timing was good too...

*jumps on the media-blaming bandwagon*
They really did go for blood, the jackals. He's better off out of it- too nice for politics.

So people with mental problems aren't mental people?
But then..

Having a mental problem suggests it's something temporary that can be treated and made to go away
Being a mental person suggests there is something fundamentally wrong that can't be changed.

So the latter applies to George Bush
and the former refers to every other politician then?

*is educated*
I think either qualifies for someone wanting to be an MP though...

I don't think that many politicians have a documented mental illness
besides, what I was saying is that it shouldn't be allowed

It's very difficult to diagnose a problem
if the person who has that problem won't accept that there's something wrong with them.
Given that part of a politician's job is to be self-important and confident, I doubt they'd ever admit to having mental problems unless under extreme pressure - as with the Lib Dem leader.

True but you don't always need an admission for a problem to be apparent
especially with something like substance or behavioural addiction.

Some of the previous leaders already have had such issues.
Like said above, Winston Churchill.
Looking for a perfect leader who's as clean as scrubbed crystal is nigh on impossible.
It's where it compromises the position most is a problem. Having said that who's not to say having a problem in the first place creates a learning curve.
Cowboy.

Sorry. I was just trying to be lightly amusing.
However, as we're now in debate :)
t's a difficult thing to enforce. Being a party leader is a pretty stressful job (I'd imagine), and can often lead to short term problems that can be 'cured'. Does this mean that anyone suffering under the strain should be banned until they're better?
How does one define such a problem, and how stricly to we adhere to the definitions?

It's a valid point though...
Strictly speaking those who are in the corridors of power shouldn't be prone to bouts of instability...
I say make them spend one day every week going through rigorous mental testing to see if they've cracked yet.
Sooner or later they all will.

That was on the first record I owned
my dad got it free with his trousers.
We'd never had 'pop' music in the house before then.

Records free with trousers?
Now those were the days.
Were they golden brown trousers, by any chance?
