# Well probably...
Some people play without picks, but they're... odd.

And as ghosty says, an unplugged electric guitar is just an unplugged electric guitar.

An acoustic guitar is a bit different.

Electric.

Acoustic. (Bearded chap optional)

EDIT: Hmm, apparently you don't always get the bearded chap when you load the Martin site. It seems you need to look a little strange to play a Martin though...
(, Tue 24 Jul 2007, 10:04, archived)
# ah yes!
its acoustic.
(, Tue 24 Jul 2007, 10:06, archived)
# Well depending on what sort of music you want to play you'll probably need a pick.

# hyper thrash death metal?
(, Tue 24 Jul 2007, 10:09, archived)
# What's odd about not using a pick?
Depends on the sound the the style you're using.

Especially if you're doing a particularly complex five fingered arpeggio.
(, Tue 24 Jul 2007, 10:09, archived)
# my grandad had an arpeggio
it had a bent rear axle that would scrub the tyres every few thousand miles
