here was a slightly more unfluffy edge I held back from my early morning photo shoot before posting it here. They had been born in the night apparently, and I was about the second or third person to see them. Infanticide is not unusual among animals in social groups, especially if young are born dead or die shortly after birth, so this is not unusual. I just wanted to talk to a few keepers first, as with the Curator of Mammals at the zoo, before posting this.
The surviving babies were doing fine when I last had a peek at them at lunchtime, though mama was generally hiding them behind the rocks under their heat-lamp.

it makes me a little sad, but then it's nature at work and who am i to interfere.
good to hear that ther are other still doing fine.

i was going to go for a job at bristol zoo, but unfortunaly they weren't paying enough for me to be able to make the move.
i would have loved it.
